Wings News and Announcements:
During the January 2010 meeting, a recommendation was made by the Executive Board to suspend the $100 "Airfield Support Fee" for new and renewing members for the 2010 calendar year. At the November meeting, the Executive Board will hear recommendations to permanently change the bylaws and terminate the "Airfield Support Fee" or retain the bylaws as they currently read. Any passing motion for vote of bylaws change will undergo a one-month review and final vote will occur at the December 2010 meeting. Any decision will affect the 2011 membership year. The club 2010 dues structure is unaffected and can be reviewed on the membership page of this website.
Our home flying field, Abernathy Aerodrome, was recently named by long time member and 2010 club Vice President, Doug Harmon. Until then, "Abernathy Field" was it's unofficial name which wasn't bad, but just needed some additional character.
We hope to continue our efforts of field improvements, including additional landscaping. We'll be having several work days in the near future and opportunities for member volunteer hours. Thanks for the time, financial asisstance, and effort all members has given thus far.
We have finally decided on our club events and dates. This upcoming flying season promises to be one of our best yet. More information to come soon on all the fun. Be sure to get your planes ready.
The Wings leadership has been working hard to develop a new logo suitable for apparel and promotional items. Soon, new travel shirts, caps, straw hats, as well as other items will be available for club members. Stay tuned!
Have a great year and happy modeling!
