Wings News and Announcements:

Indoor flying now in Lubbock!

Wingsmas has secured an agreement with One - 9 Skate Park at 205 E. 19th Street in Lubbock to host indoor flying sessions every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.  The location is just a block east of Avenue A on 19th street at the old cotton seed mill structures.  The facility is awesome for small, electric powered fixed and rotary winged aircraft and measures approximately 100' X 300' in floor area and 85' high in the middle of the floor.  The structure is "A-frame" designed so the ceiling height is not consistant over the entire floor area.  The facility is well lit with several large halogen lights that are mounted high enough to be non-obstructive.  The facility features clean, painted floors, snack-bar style tables and seating, power outlets, indoor restrooms, and very convenient  parking.  Flying dates are currently on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of the month from 6:00pm until 9:30pm.  The cost is just $10.00 per participant, each evening.  AMA membership is required.  Plans are in the works to host an indoor flying event sometime in the late spring or early summer.  Details to follow.  Come out and join in the fun!

The membership of Wingsmas has made arrangements to play an active role in the upcoming Texas Air Museum's Slaton Airshow in Slaton, TX.  A club booth with display aircraft will be on site with possible R/C aircraft flight demonstrations!

Our flagship event, the fouth annual West Texas Warbirds, will be held this summer on August 5th-7th.  This event is a real treat and will feature many military aircraft in campaign colors and markings for a special, model airshow spectacle.  Pilots from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and others are expected to attend and bring their best fighters, trainers, bombers and transports.  Food and drinks by Cast Iron Grill Catering will be available Saturday and Sunday and will include breakfast and other picnic menu items.  Spectators will once again have the opportunity to view the aircraft up close, talk to pilots, and vote in the People's Choice award on Saturday at noon.  Spectators will be admitted at $5.00 per adult, kids 12 and under are free.  With good weather, this event promises to deliver an excellent model airshow!  See the EVENTS page for all the details.

My best wishes for a safe and enjoyable season of friends, flying and fun!
